I can see immediate changes! Yesterday I did a 43 mile Cheshire loop and fuelled it the 3 energy bars a banana a bottle with 3 scoops of toque energy and lucozade sport! Way more than recently which could be a few dates or one cereal bar… I was able to work much harder and put in more efforts than normal, back home i wasn’t ravenous and ate a medium size dinner without further pigging out! I can see how proper fuelling can actually be more beneficial for composition changes because you can put more into rides!

I know I've said it a lot prior, but seriously, actually fuelling my rides has completely and utterly changed my relationship with cycling. I used to dread and fear long rides and they were simply a mental exercise more than anything. Now I won’t run or ride - even an hour- without at least a handful of dates. For cycling, I now LOOK FORWARDS to my rides! Crazy how food was the differential. Tomorrow I will head to Andermatt and do 110km and 3000m of climbing (solo but I am sure many bums to chase on the hill!!) Let’s just say I think you’d be pleased with the size of bulges in my pockets!!

Just thought you might like to know I got a massive 10 minute PB at Manchester yesterday, eight years after my last PB (3 hours 47 mins). Nutrition played a huge part in it - I managed 76g/hr of carbs during the race and never felt even a glimmer of weakness/tiredness. Took my last 1/2 gel at 39km, unheard of! Had a good carb load too - although totally see what you mean about fibre, OMG - although I spread it over 2 days as literally couldn't cram in enough food otherwise. Anyway THANK YOU again - I'm over the moon to get a PB at nearly 50! Not sure the weight loss made as much difference as fuelling correctly if I'm honest. I'm a kilo up on where I was but I don't care. Am really looking forward to some salad and protein today!

Just some feedback on the carb loading masterclass, I placed 4th in the MAS4 Road Race and I couldn’t be happier. I can say definitively that the carb loading helped me outlast and out sprint the remaining riders. There is no doubt in my mind that they were lighter and stronger than me, but didn’t have the endurance or the ‘fuel’ to maintain the power. I never felt depleted or hungry and my power was always available. My fuelling strategy during the 2 hour race was 80g carbs per hour in the form of beta fuel in my drink bottles. I really appreciate your guidance with the carb loading, I learned some valuable insights into how to carb load properly, when to carb load and what race durations carb loading is best for.

Thank you Gemma! I have started to try a few things and certainly increase my CHO intake on the bike. I had a crack at you Banana Blueberry Smoothie this morning. That will be added to the eating regime!! I had hard efforts today 5 x5min that I have been doing for the past 4 weeks. I have struggled to maintain consistent power across all 5 efforts. Today I had a gel between efforts 3 and 4 to see if that made any difference. All 5 efforts were within 3w of each other!! I have been experiencing major drop offs (10-20w) and running out of energy. So it has really given me food (!) for thought around my food intake on rides. Maybe a coincidence today but the numbers don’t lie!!
